Book Arts lends itself to all kinds of media; collage, paint, fabric, and stitching, beading, heat transfer and digital transfers.

Books can tell stories in text, pictures, torn pages from books, diaries, symbols, leaves, broaches, anything that can be pressed, stitched, glued, or tucked.

The Sisters Book is fabric with photos (not originals!), and images.

The image on the left is scanned and cut, with sheer translucent fabric stitched over it.

The hand holding the Mercury Staff is from one of my original paintings, layered with opalescent fabric and shiny thread.

Images of Deities are taken from India, Alchemy, Christianity, and paganism collaged and assembled together.

This book is called the WEST WATCH a play on words. The book is made from leather with my grandfathers Watch with an engraved "W" on the backside. The old watch strap frames the spine or back of the book.

The photos are scanned from boxes of jumbled old photos. This book honors my ancestors and shows the lineage chronologically. Below is an old photo of my father in the early 1900's when he was about 18 in Germany. The photos next to it is me in Eygpt in 1990. It was delightful to discover my fathers exhuberance for life and to see the same spontanious gesture.
